The Music Major is designed to prepare the student to be a well-rounded musician.

The Music program at ÉñÂíÎÒ²»¿¨¸£Àû provides students with a core curriculum of music theory, musicianship, private study and performance. The degree integrates music study, aural skills, writing and performance in order to foster artistic and critical thinking and a broad foundation of musical skill.

Subject: Natural Resources

Degree/Certificate Type: A.A.-T Degree

This certificate includes a broad area of study including botany, wildlife, fisheries, ornithology, mycology, geology, ecology and natural history. Courses that make up this certificate will provide students with the training and skills to help them attain employment in outdoor fields. These courses also apply to AS Degrees and Certificates of Achievement in Forestry, Natural Resources, and Watershed Management.

This Associate in Science (AS) Degree equips students with the applied skills, training, and experience for immediate entry into the workforce, and if desired can be optimized to prepare students for transfer to Natural Resources programs at four-year colleges and universities. Transfer-oriented students should see a guidance counselor for additional required coursework in ANTHR, BIOL, CHEM, COMP, ESC, ECON, GEOGR, MATH, PHYCS.

The Certificate of Achievement in Natural Resources helps prepare recipients for immediate employment in entry-level positions in the field of natural resources. The courses that make up the Natural Resources Certificate are also applicable to the Natural Resources AS degree, which has additional General Education requirements.

Degree/Certificate Type: A.S.-T Degree

The goal of the Nutrition and Dietetics Associate in Science for Transfer program is to prepare students for transfer to a California State University to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Nutrition and/or Dietetics. The program is intended and designed to make the transfer of ÉñÂíÎÒ²»¿¨¸£Àû students to CSU as seamless as possible. The major requirements of this degree align with the Transfer Model Curriculum. It is the most efficient pathway for students desiring to transfer to CSU in a similar major in a timely manner. Students should consult with a counselor to determine whether this degree is the best option for their transfer goals. The Associate in Science in Nutrition and Dietetics for Transfer degree (AS-T in Nutrition and Dietetics) prepares students for success in a baccalaureate degree in Nutrition and Dietetics with the lower-division coursework required to transfer into the CSU system. Students learn about chemicals and nutrients in food and their effects on the human body and the world. The study of nutritional science contributes to preparing students for careers as nutritionists, registered dietitians (RD), food scientists, or other dietetics professionals. The study of Nutrition provides students exposure to topics in chemistry, biochemistry, microbiology, human biology, and general biology.

Degree/Certificate Type: Certificate of Competency

The Patient Access Representative Skills Attainment Certificate enables an individual to perform front office duties in a medical setting including, but not limited to, entering patient information into databases and maintaining accurate records, relaying information to relevant staff members, informing patients and their caregivers of hospital procedures, policies, and protocols, providing patients with billing and payment information, dealing with patient questions, concerns, and issues, and performing general administrative tasks.

Designed to provide entry level skills as a Payroll Clerk, Bookkeeper, or Front Office Clerk.

Degree/Certificate Type: A.S.-T Degree

Physics provides a pathway to a wide variety of high demand careers in diverse sectors with the skills related to numeracy, problem solving, data analysis and communication of complex ideas, as well as understanding of how the world works on a scientific level. Students will enhance their problem solving and critical thinking skills as they explore the relationship of physics to other topic in science, technology and engineering.

The Political Science program is designed to help students understand the broad scope of political science as a comparative science. It covers key theoretical approaches that inform political science, as well as the role of political theory and research methods. The program also seeks to foster critical thinking, develop awareness of diverse perspectives and their implications, and encourage effective approaches to problem solving.

Psychology is the study of the mind and behavior. Students will learn fundamentals of theories and practice of thinking, feeling and behaving. Students will come away with a basic background in the in the multifaceted discipline, including (but not limited to) clinical practice, human development, cognitive processes, social behavior, health and sports psychology.

The goal of the AS-T Public Health Science degree program is to prepare students for transfer to the California State University (CSU) to pursue a BA or BS in a similar major such as Health Science or Health Education. The program is intended and designed to make the transfer of ÉñÂíÎÒ²»¿¨¸£Àû students to the CSU as seamless as possible. The requirements of this degree align with the Transfer Model Curriculum. The Public Health Science Associate Degree for Transfer program trains students in multidisciplinary approaches to public health practice and research, which is essential to recognizing and addressing public health issues at the state, national and global levels.

Technically, Sociology is the study of human society – usually the kind of societies that emerged since the industrial revolution. So, while there is overlap with anthropology and history, the time frame in sociology is the most recent part of the human story. Sociology is concerned with groups (age, ethnicity, gender, political), institutions (education, family, media, medicine & health, law, science, work), and processes (socialization throughout the life course, globalization and democratization). Sociology is also concerned with power and inequity (who has less/more and why).

The Social Work and Human Services Certificate of Achievement prepares students for basic entry level positions in social work and other human services agencies. The Certificate of Achievement provides a broad array of entry-level knowledge and skill building needed to effectively work in social services delivery systems.

The purpose of the Sport Science major is to provide a general program of study that focuses on the principles of physical education, fitness and sport. This program will also develop the student's understanding of the sociological impact of sport in society, as well as provide an introduction to sport psychology, basic first-aid, injury prevention and treatment, and organization of physical education, fitness, and athletics programs.
